IWD2024 Spotlight Series – meet Kate Blond, Account Manager – Kalgoorlie, Western Region

“…working in a male dominated industry can be challenging, but with the support and growing knowledge of the business behind me, I find I can stand my ground as an equal”.
Our last, but not least candidate for our IWD2024 series is Kate Blond.  Kate will amaze our readers with Kate's career progression in such a short space of time along with Kate's sense of humour, is sure to delight.
Welcome Kate Blond:

Can you tell us a bit about your role at BMSA and what you find most fulfilling about it?

I started with Bridgestone at the Kalgoorlie Branch as a Sales Administrator back in late 2020 and became permanent early 2021.

I have now transitioned into the role of Account Manager as of early 2023 and I am enjoying the different aspects of the business, the challenges the role provides me, and the personal interaction with our customers.

I enjoy working for Bridgestone and consider our team my extended family.

What challenges have you overcome in your career, and what advice would you give to other women facing similar obstacles?

With working in a male dominated industry and town, it can be challenging, but with the support and growing knowledge of the business behind me, I find I can stand my ground as an equal.

Outside of work, what passions or hobbies fuel your creativity and energy?

I love to landscape my garden and those of others, spending time with my family and friends, cooking for a gathering, enjoying concerts and local shows with my sons, and going to the movies for a good Action, Comedy, or a sappy Rom-com.

We’d love to bring a smile to our audience’s faces.  Can you share a fun or quirky fact about yourself that they might not now?

For those who have not met me, I have a gold lower front tooth which I’ve had since I was 9 years old, a result of playing “chasey” in the dark and running into a brick wall breaking my adult tooth.

Before I started at Bridgestone, I worked as a Canteen Manager at a local Primary School, the children would always ask me how I got my gold tooth or my ‘Grill’ as they would call it. I told them it was because I ate all my vegetables.

I’m guessing there’s going to be a number of children who are going to be bitterly disappointed when they grow up, but at least they’ll be healthy!! 😂
